Lala: LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, February 20, 2014: The Malaysian Gymnastics Federation is hosting the 13th Asian Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior Championships in Kuala Lumpur (MAS) February 21 – 24, 2014. A qualifier for the 2nd Youth Olympic Games this summer in Nanjing (CHN), the event includes a qualifying round with team ranking as well as an All-around Final and Apparatus Finals for Individuals. A General Competition and Apparatus Finals for Rhythmic Groups will also be held. Thirteen- to 15-year old juniors are eligible to compete at these championships, and while Individuals will perform on Hoop, Ball, Clubs and Ribbon, the Groups composed of five gymnasts have two exercises on their programme: one with 5 Hoops and one with 10 Clubs. The three top-ranked Individuals and the top-ranked Group from Qualifications and the General Competition, will secure their tickets to Nanjing, provided they fulfil the age requirements for the Youth Olympic Games (gymnasts must have been born in 1999). They will join China’s gymnasts, who as the host country already have one place each for Individuals and Groups in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Eighteen individual gymnasts and six Groups of five gymnasts apiece will compete at the YOG. With Kazakhstan, Syria, Mongolia, Hong Kong, DPR Korea, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Singapore, China, Japan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Qatar, Indonesia and host Malaysia, a total of 16 countries will participate in the championships staged at Putra Indoor Stadium, which served as the Gymnastics venue at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. In 2010, the Rhythmic Groups of Japan and Singapore, as well as the Individual gymnasts Wang Manqin (CHN), Yuliya Kizima (KAZ), and Aziza Mamadjanova (UZB) and Malaysia’s own Lee Wan Nin qualified to represent Asia at the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Lala: All-Around Final of 13th Junior RG Asian Champ 2014 AGU Office, Doha (QAT) February 23, 2014: The All-Around Final of the 13th Junior RG Asian Championships held on February 23, 2014 in the Stadium Putra National Sports Complex with the success of MAINOVSKAYA Yelizaveta from Kazakhstan with a total score of 56.250 pts follow by DAVLYATOVA Anora from Uzbekistan with 55.850 pts and the surprise of the TAI Olivia from Organizing Country Malaysia with a total of 55.650 pts Olivia Tai, 15, put up a consistent performance in all four disciplines, namely hoops, ball, ribbon and clubs, to collect 55.650 points in the final. Yelizaveta Mainovskaya from Kazakhstan was in a class of her own to win the gold with 56.250 points while Anora Davlyatova from Uzbekistan scored 55.850 points for the silver. "I am delighted to have won the bronze medal against a strong field. All my hard work for the past six months has paid off because my main target was to qualify for the Junior Olympics," she said.

Lala: Apparatus Finals of the 13th Junior RG Asian Champ 2014 AGU Office, Doha (QAT) February 24, 2014: The last day competition is concluded with the domination of Uzbekistan with a total of 4 Gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals followed by Kazakhstan with 3 Gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals and in the third place Malaysia and Japan 1 Gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals followed by China with 2 silver and 1 bronze medal. The Malaysian gymnast Olivia Tai Qing Tong did the country proud by dancing her way to a gold and silver medal at the 13th Asian Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, here, today. Olivia Tai's grace and mesmerizing moves overwhelmed the judges who awarded 14.500 points for the Clubs, the highest in the competition, to sweep aside favourite Yelizaveta Mainovskaya of Kazakhstan who managed 14.350 points for the silver while Anora Davlyatova from Uzbekistan and Takana Tatsuzawa from Japan were awarded bronze medals after scoring identical 14.300 points. Olivia 15, added a silver medal in the Ribbon with 14.150 points behind Takana Tatsuzawa of Japan who collected 14.300 points while Anora Davlyatova from Uzbekistan was third with 13.900 points. "The gold and silver is a pleasant surprise for me, especially after failing to win any medals in the Hoop. I'm happy to comeback in the clubs and ribbon events. "This is team effort, coaches included. Now, I hope I can qualify for the Youth Olympics Games (YOG) in Nanjing, China in August," she told reporters, here today. In the Hoop, Olivia Tai managed only sixth spot with a poor score of 12.750 points while Veronika Lyssogor from Kazakhstan took the gold with (14.600) points ahead of Nilufar Shomuradova from Uzbekistan (14.250) while Yelizaveta Mainovskaya from Kazakhstan (13.950) was the bronze medal winner. Meanwhile, in the Group Apparatus competition for Hoops, Malaysia represented by Thew Yue Jia, Adelina Theresa, Chai Cin Nong, Chan Mei Thung and Yap Xin Lu managed a bronze medal with 12.517 points. Uzbekistan took the gold with 14.250 points while China with 14.150 won the bronze. In the Clubs, Kazakhstan took the gold with 14.583 points, beating Japan (13.593) to second place and China took the bronze with 13.450 points.
